This Privacy Policy explains how PawTally collects, uses, shares, protects, and deletes information when you use the PawTally mobile app and related website. PawTally is a pet care tracking app for reminders, care logs, insights, and cost history.

Information We Collect
Depending on how you use PawTally, we may collect or process:
- Account information, such as your email address, login provider, user ID, and profile details.
- Pet profile information, such as pet name, pet type, breed, birthday, weight, goals, microchip details you choose to save, and care preferences.
- Pet care records, such as activity, bathroom, training, nutrition, medication, vet visit, reminder, and cost logs.
- Photos you upload or capture for pet profiles.
- Walk and activity information, including location-derived route, distance, and duration data when you choose to use walk tracking and grant location permission.
- Barcode or camera-related information when you use camera features, such as taking pet photos or scanning pet food packaging.
- Support request information, including your message, contact details, account ID, and app-related context needed to respond.
- Subscription information, such as entitlement status, platform, product identifier, purchase state, and renewal or expiration information.
- AI insight inputs and outputs, including a bounded recent summary of selected pet logs and the generated insight text.
- Technical and security information, such as app diagnostics, authentication events, device/platform details, and server logs used to operate and protect the service.
How We Use Information
- To create and manage your PawTally account.
- To store, show, and sync your pet profiles, reminders, photos, care logs, and cost history.
- To send local reminders and notifications you configure in the app.
- To track walk duration, distance, and routes when you enable location-based walk tracking.
- To provide PawTally Pro features, including AI insights and cost analytics.
- To verify purchases, manage subscription access, and restore entitlements.
- To respond to support requests and maintain account safety.
- To debug, monitor, secure, and improve PawTally.
AI Insights
If you use AI Insights, PawTally sends a limited recent summary of the selected pet's activity, bathroom, training, nutrition, pet name, breed, and care goal data to a third-party AI provider, Google Gemini, through a server-side Supabase Edge Function. PawTally verifies your account, premium status, and pet ownership before generating insights. AI responses are validated, cached in PawTally, and returned to the app.
AI insights are designed to summarize patterns in your own logs. They are not a substitute for professional veterinary advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
Third-Party Services
PawTally uses third-party service providers to operate the app:
- Supabase for authentication, database, private storage, server functions, and account deletion workflows.
- RevenueCat for subscription purchase, entitlement, and paywall management.
- Google Gemini for AI insight generation when you use AI Insights.
- Google Maps SDK for map and walk-tracking features.
- Apple App Store and Google Play for app distribution, in-app purchase processing, and subscription management.
When We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to operate PawTally, provide requested features, comply with law, protect rights and safety, process subscriptions, respond to support requests, or with your direction or consent.
Your Choices And Permissions
- You can choose what pet profile and care log information you enter.
- You can decline camera, photo library, notification, or location permissions, though some features may not work without them.
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions through the App Store or Google Play account used for purchase.
- You can delete your account from within the PawTally app. Account deletion removes the auth user and associated PawTally data, including pets, logs, reminders, support requests, photos, and subscription records stored by PawTally, subject to legal or operational retention requirements.
Data Retention
We retain account and pet care information while your account is active or as needed to provide PawTally. We may retain limited records where required for security, legal, tax, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, backup, or app store subscription purposes. Backup copies may persist for a limited period before deletion.
Security
PawTally uses access controls, private storage, authenticated requests, row-level security, and provider security features to help protect user data. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
PawTally is intended for pet owners and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate consent, please contact us so we can review and delete it as appropriate.
International Users
Your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where PawTally or its service providers operate. Data protection laws may differ from those in your location.
Changes To This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify users, such as updating the effective date or providing in-app notice.
